Tempeh is tofu’s underappreciated cousin… and it’s time you gave this fermented soybean cake another look! It’s meaty texture and rich flavour have a lot more attitude and holy heck, a lot of protein! Just 1/2 cup of tempeh has 16 grams of plant-based protein in addition to zinc, iron, calcium and magnesium. 

Buy premarinated tempeh to make it more flavourful, and crumble it into your favourite pasta sauce, chili, or hummus toast. Or, give it a good marinade like my tempeh bacon recipe.
