Luscious Black Forest Smoothie (15g protein!)

This antioxidant-rich, craveable cherry chocolate smoothie ACTUALLY tastes like a black forest cake, thanks to a secret (and super basic!) ingredient. And it will fill you up, with healthy fats and 15 grams of protein with no protein powder.

Equipment

  • High Speed Blender a regular blender should work fine here too!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup soy milk or your fave higher protein milk
  • ½ medium banana fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter use sunflower butter for nut free!
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract omit if allergic to almond

Instructions

  • Place the cherries, milk, banana, almond butter, cocoa, and almond extract in a blender and blend until smooth, about 30-45 seconds. Enjoy!!

Notes

A couple of tips: one frozen element - either banana or cherries - makes this a yummier smoothie...but once you've blended you could also just throw a few ice cubes in there with a quick reblend to make it frosty!
Oh, and this one would make fun smoothsicles, as we call them in our house. Just pour into popsicle molds and freeze!
