Equipment

  • High Speed Blender

Ingredients

  • 3 cups frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  • Blend, starting at low speed and gradually moving up to medium high for 1-2 minutes until thoroughly blended and dark purple in colour. You’ll need to use the tamper. Don't overblend as the mixture will melt!
  • Serve immediately or store in the freezer until ready to use. If frozen for more than a couple of hours, you will need to leave it at room temperature until soft enough to scoop, about 10-15 minutes.

Notes

Blueberry sorbet flavour variations

Once you know the basic formula for this 3 ingredient blueberry sorbet, there are so many different variations you can try!
  • Add 1 teaspoon (5 mL) pure vanilla extract for a "creamier" effect
  • Try adding the zest of a lemon for a lemon-blueberry duo
  • Add 2 tablespoon (30 mL) cocoa powder for a rich, dark chocolate blueberry vibe
  • Ginger pairs well with blueberries - try 2 teaspoons (10 mL) grated ginger
  • Replace the water with strong, cold chamomile tea or any other liquid you like for a different flavour
  • Want to boost flavour even further? Add a tiny pinch of salt. Yes, salt! It won’t make it taste salty.
