Hemp Hearts

Wondering what to do with that bag of hemp hearts in the pantry? You’ve come to the right place: I use nutrient-dense hemp hearts in many of my plant-based recipes because they are high in plant-based protein, with 10 grams of protein per 3 tablespoons, as well as omega 3 fatty acids. Hemp seeds also contain plenty of minerals like iron, zinc and magnesium, which are so important for good health.

Hemp is more versatile than you think: you can turn it into a yummy hemp milk without soaking or straining. It adds a boost of protein and healthy fats to scrumptious breakfast cookies, overnight oats or smoothies. And, because they blend up so easily, I’ve made hemp the base for my nut-free vegan Caesar salad dressing, a light-as-air creamy parsnip soup and a delicious nut-free seed butter.
