Is it hot in here or is it just me?

These dog days of summer call for lots of frozen treats…but if you are trying to eat well, you might (rightly) be wary of all the sugar-laden, fake blue ice pops out there. I am all for taking it easy but making your own frozen treats from real ingredients is so simple that you won’t break a sweat. Here are some of my favourite ideas for 5 minute treats. The hardest part will be waiting for them to freeze!

Try them all, because they are all good for you, no matter what your eating plan. No sugar, gluten free, paleo-friendly, vegetarian and vegan options. You really can have a treat everyday when you #unjunkyourdiet.

Desiree’s Easy Summer Ice Pops (Vegan, Gluten Free, Paleo)

Take 2 cups of chopped, ripe seasonal fruit and puree in a blender or food processor with just enough water to help the blending. Pour into standard ice pop molds. Use any excess for a summer cocktail atop club soda!

Some of my favourite combos:

watermelon + 1 tbsp chopped fresh mint
strawberries + 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
peach + 1/4 tsp real vanilla extract
cherries + blueberries

Instant Frozen Yogurt  (Vegan, Gluten Free)
Serves 2

Blend 1 cup of frozen fruit – any kind! – with 1/4 cup of non-dairy yogurt in a bullet or small food processor until well blended. Serve immediately!

This recipe scales up really well, just be sure not to add extra yogurt or it will be too soft.

Enjoy every moment of summer!
